The Institute of Casting Technology (Institut für Gießereitechnik, IfG) was established in 1954 by the foundry industry as a joint laboratory facility and research establishment. Its shareholders are the German Foundrymen's Society (Verein Deutscher Gießereifachleute, VDG) and the German Foundry Association (Deutscher Gießereiverband, DGV).
Then as now, IfG's aim was to serve the foundry industry as a strong partner and to provide companies with valuable technology consulting and development support while ensuring that such expertise would find its way speedily into real-life production environments.
Apart from its extensive know-how covering all aspects of the foundry business and its technologies, IfG offers advanced research and laboratory capabilities which enable us to operate in the best interests of the foundry industry. Let us assist you in developing genuine product advantages, in line with your requirements and those of the market. Our scope ranges from casting technology issues in process and material engineering to quality management, environmental protection and labour safety.
